A Trickster’s Tale, Illuminated.
Atop an evergreen tree, Raven perches, plotting his next move. Disguising himself as a single pine needle, he embarks on a cunning mission—one that will lead to the release of the sun, moon, and stars from the Old Man’s tightly held bentwood boxes.
"Raven on Tree" by William Flett is a celebration of the Haida Nation’s oral traditions, offering a glimpse into the many versions of "How Raven Stole the Light." These animal crests are more than symbols; they carry stories of creation, transformation, and connection between the natural and spiritual worlds.
William, an artist and activist, lives on the ancestral and unceded lands of the Hən̓q̓əmin̓əm̓ speaking peoples (Metro Vancouver, BC). His work explores themes of Indigeneity, storytelling, and cultural resilience.
A perfect gift—whether for a stocking stuffer, hospitality token, or corporate appreciation.
